Local Lifestyle

Vero Beach is all about its one-of-a-kind history and local culture. Something about the types of properties in the community: oceanfront estates, golf view estates, riverfront properties, condos, golf cottages, townhomes. With more than 12 public beaches in town, many residents are drawn to Vero Beach for its outdoor activities and active lifestyle. Community members can often be found playing sports, including golf, tennis, or pickleball. For the ocean and Indian River lovers, spend your days out swimming, fishing, boating, paddle boarding, kayaking, sun bathing, and beach walking. The arts are also an important part of the local culture.

After a day filled with local adventures, take a meandering stroll or golf cart ride into town for an ice cream (with or without a grandchild in tow). Spend your afternoon playing a round of bridge, mah jong or backgammon. Finish the evening with a relaxing dinner overlooking the ocean or river. We think living on the Treasure Coast is paradise! 😎

There are also multiple historical sites throughout Vero Beach, like the famous Historic Dodgertown, which was the training hub for the L.A. Dodgers until 2008. Before that, it was originally a naval base — which means a bit of naval and sports history wrapped into one. The Jackie Robinson Training Complex is a spring training facility for major league baseball.  It honors the legacy of Jackie Robinson while also acknowledging the space as the first integrated training facility in the American South.

Arts and Entertainment

Vero Beach Art Museum is considered the beating heart of the arts community in Vero Beach. It not only has over 880 works of art in its permanent collection but also boasts regularly rotating new collections. There’s always something new to experience.  It’s not just about seeing the art, either. You can also take a class and learn how to make it yourself. Vero Beach Art Museum has an entire art school. Whether you want a one-time workshop or to work your way through a full term, there are options for you at any skill level.

The vibrant local Florida culture comes alive at Riverside Theatre, the largest small town professional theatre in America. The performances may be a comedy show, a musical or a play in the back box theatre. There is something for everyone including a prestigious Distinguished Lecture Series and a children's theater. The Riverside Children's Theatre offers productions, classes and camps for all ages.

The Under the Oaks, fine arts and craft shows happen yearly. Located in Riverside Park, you’ll take in the art of over 200 artists while enjoying the shade of the massive oak trees.

Saint Edward’s Trunk Show is a unique shopping experience in the area. Not only will you see one-of-a-kind pieces from over 70 vendors across the country, but you will also get to support the local community. All proceeds from the sale go to support Saint Edward’s afterschool programs. You or your home can look a little more fabulous, and you get the warm glow of doing good.

Experience an outdoor concert every month with Sunset Saturday Night’s Concert Series. Located in the gorgeous Humiston Park, this series features a new music act each month. You don’t even need to worry about eating beforehand, as the food and drink vendors are present to provide delectable delights.

After the concert, walk to the beach to enjoy the beautiful scenery and weather, or swing by some of the local shopping venues!

Beachside Dining and Shopping

Vero Beach on the island is populated by local shops and restaurants. You won’t find a chain here, so you never have to go out of your way to support local businesses. 👏 Once you invest in Vero Beach real estate, you'll have fun designing your home or condo with a myriad of upscale and unique choices.

For fresh and delicious seafood, head down to Ocean Grill. Not only do they have the freshest catches, but they also have a rich history. Anne loves the pompano and Dan recommends the cajun grouper. Of course there are plenty of options besides seafood. The restaurant was first opened in 1941 and was previously a Naval officer’s club.

Casey’s Place is excellent for casual dining fans. Their burgers and fries are amazing! Their outdoor dining area with signature umbrellas provides a festive shaded atmosphere, and their food is known for miles around.

Head over to The Tides restaurant for a fine dining experience, indoors or out. A great choice for date night. You’ll hear locals boast about their Southern, Latin, French, and Caribbean-inspired food and the extensive wine list.

If you want shopping instead of food, local boutiques dot Ocean Drive and surrounding streets. Stop by Trimmings Home Garden Gifts to explore their phenomenal selection of gifts and home goods. Trimmings is a locally owned and loved shop with an impressive collection of traditional antiques and home decor. Another delightful shop is Loggia Home & Garden. Loggia curates a refined collection of fine clothing, jewelry and accessories to enhance personal style. They also specialize in custom upholstery, home furnishings and décor. Take a trip to their beautiful boutique to gather inspiration for your own interior design. Finally, a visit to Vero Beach is not complete without a stop at Sassy Boutique, known for the fabulous clothing and the fantastic customer service. Things to Do in Vero Beach

Another positive of the beautiful, year-round warmth is a year-round farmer’s market! You don’t have to wait until May to get locally grown veggies, fruits, and artisanal goods. The Oceanside Farmer’s Market is open and waiting for you every Saturday morning. Pick up locally sourced vegetables, fruits, and fresh seafood. The market also showcases artisanal goods from small businesses every week. There’s always something new to explore!

Vero Beach also has much to love in the great outdoors. Experience the beautiful, tropical scenery at Jaycee Park, Riverside Park, South Beach Park, and Humiston Park. Each location has a unique outdoor space, most with playgrounds and most connected to a beach. Perfect for a picnic or just to nice long walk along the beach.

Veteran’s Memorial Island Sanctuary, located near Vero Beach Art Museum, offers you the chance to pay respects to the members of our armed forces. It’s a lovely island setting with a trail leading around the edge and bronze plaques for each branch of the armed forces. Enjoy a pleasant walk while also remembering and respecting our fallen service members.

McKee Botanical Garden is an amazing place to visit where one can see and learn all about local and exotic plants. Don't miss this unique opportunity! McKee Botanical Garden provides classes for all age groups and experience levels to free your inner gardener. With little ones, don't miss the children's garden... complete with a pirate ship and jump through water spouts. Allow your child to explore and be a kid while discovering the beauty of nature. This is one of Anne and Dan's favorite local non-profit organizations that they support. They highly encourage you to visit. You won't be disappointed.
